Royal Hold’em Poker
This is a very exciting game that has only been around for a couple of years, but its popularity is increasing daily as here one only plays with the high cards. This means that only 20 cards are used, the Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace in all suits. The rest of the cards (2 – 9 in all suits) are discarded.
Each player receives two hole cards and five community cards are placed on the table face up. Now each player has the chance of making the best hand using the two hole cards and three of the community cards. Hand rankings follow the traditional poker structure, but the only hand that would have a huge significance here is the Royal flush. Other flushes and pairs do not apply but four of a kind or also known as quads, full houses, straights and two pairs certainly have their place here as well.
As in a normal game of Texas Hold’em, an Ante is placed on the table and the cards are dealt. Thereafter betting rounds from the pre-flop, to the river will take place where all players can decide if they want to fold, call or raise. The showdown will follow and the best hand will definitely walk away with the pot.
Pot sizes in this game are relatively high as this is quite a specialised game. This game is definitely for the more advanced player and the player who can literally think on their feet and not be overcome by the enormity of this game.
This is certainly a high intensity game especially if there are 6 players at the table. That would mean that all of the cards are used. Twelve cards with each player holding 2 cards, five community cards and three burn cards amounts to the 20 cards that is used in this game.
